SnackPacks

Volunteers stacking donated food during the
Ameris Bank Snackpacks Food Drive in Irmo, SC
October is coming and with it comes a great opportunity to help feed hungry schoolchildren in the Irmo-St. Andrews communities of central South Carolina.

What are Snack Packs?
Snack Packs is a program that is helping to feed students in need in our local community. Most school kids look forward to weekend breaks. But for students who rely on free/reduced-price school breakfasts and lunches for their meals, weekends often just mean two days of empty stomachs.

Who are We?
A coalition of churches and service organizations, led by a partnership between McGregor Presbyterian Church and the Optimist Club of St. Andrews-Irmo, SC, is working to combat that problem by delivering more than 600 Snack Packs each week to schools in Lexington/Richland 5 and Richland 1 school districts.
A Snack Pack contains 16-18 easy-to-eat food items that keep children from going hungry over the weekend, so they can return to school on Monday mornings, healthy and ready to learn. Each week, volunteers pack and deliver Snack Packs to schools in Lexington and Richland Counties, Each Friday, school social workers hand out these Snack Packs to students in need.

Ways you may Help

Ameris Bank in Irmo generously supports Snack Packs each year by matching the value of food and monetary donations received between October 1 and 31. This helps fund the program throughout the school year.
